I remeber growing up in the days of hair metal and by 1989 the genre was completely watered down with lame groups like Firehouse and EnuffZNuff. The whole genre needed a kick in the pants and one was coming. I cant remember the name of the show but there was a new rock artist showcase in LA and a friend of mine had gotton a video of the show. There was one band on there that was an absolute ass-kicker. Pantera was on this bill doing the song Heresy. Everything about this group was great. Guitarist Dime-Bag Darrell was insane and the rhythm section has great as well. Phil Anselmo was out of his mind with aggression and stage presence. This was about 6 months before the Cowboys from hell CD came out and it was one of those CD's that I will always remember. Like Appetite for Destruction in the mid 80's this was another game changer for the rock genre.
