It was 1987, Poison, Bon Jovi, and Motley Crue were the biggest bands in rock-n-roll. This also was a time when any group of guys with big hair and guitars could get a record deal so the metal market was saturated to say the least. 87 was also the year that Appetite for Destruction came out. When I was in school you could find all the hard core metalheads in the Fine Arts building where the big stereo was. The band teacher was a good guy and he figured if we were in there listening to music then we werent getting in trouble. One kids Mom ran the local record store so he had the goods as soon as they came out. He brought appetite to school and it was all great. I hadn't made it to the end of the album yet but I remember I was at a friends house one Friday when Rocket queen came on. I remember how dark and sleazy it sounded and the lyrics were just as dirty. I was one of those things that as a teen you knew your folks wouldnt want you hearing but it felt good to listen to when you were with your girlffriend and had a few drinks in you.

This video is a really good live performance.
