The New Rodney Crowell Album!

Rodney Crowell has been one of my favorite songwriters for 30 years. His songwriting and singing just keep getting better and better. I pre-ordered this on Amazon and the day it came I couldn't wait to unwrap it. I loaded it up in the car and drove through the woods – I do my best listening in the car. When this song came on, I immediately liked the opening guitar chords; familiar but still new. The lyrics got me thinking about things I hadn't thought about in a long time. When the right song comes on, you get this moment of "aha! That singer articulated just the way I'm feeling, but I didn't know how to say it."

Last week, I introduced my new book, "The World in Six Songs" at the Barnes & Noble store in Lincoln Center, New York City <http://search.bar nesandnoble.com/The-World-in-Six-Songs/Daniel-J-Levitin/e/97 80525950738/?itm=2>. Rodney came up and played six songs to illustrate the six themes in my book. An audience member asked if he thought that a song can change the world. Rodney thought about it for a moment before answering "Yes. I
wouldn't write another song if I didn't think it could. Not every song will, maybe none of mine will, but that doesn't stop me from trying."

Stephen said: Daniel, Welcome to JamsBio. We're just down the street from a Texas mecca for singer-songwriters, Anderson Fair, a small venue where everyone from Townes Van Zandt, Lucinda Williams, Nancy Griffith, Guy Clark and Lyle Lovett cut their teeth and where Rodney Crowell would feel right at home. Loved your first book and can't wait to read your new one. (8/21/2008)
