Will we always have Paris? God I hope not!LOCATION: My office desk, when I should have been working , LondonYEAR: 2006TAGS: Paris, Summer, SatirePUBLISHED: March 17, 2008I saw an article in the UK trade press only the other day which referred to Paris Hilton as one of the best known brands in the UK. "So," I thought, "that's what she's become a brand, but what does she stand for?" I'm not sure I can answer that, as her brand seems to be more about fuelling our celebrity obsessed media rather than anything else. The product you 'buy' is a rich bitch who is not as stupid as she seems and who is clearly very clever at media manipulation. This song is a bit of guilty pleasure, dare I admit it, but I actually think it's quite a good pop song, even though the provenance of the vocals is said to be indeterminate. Anyway, enough of the deep stuff, I'll go back to what everyone does best, knocking Miss Hilton and talking about her over my daily cappuccino (proof that I buy the brand!). Here' s something I originally wrote when the album first came out, in the days when I had the time for such vanity projects... "Everyone's favourite multi-millionnaire heiress is soon to release her own album. Mr Damian has an exclusive look at the tracklisting for an album which mixes musical styles with gay abandon, and shows that Paris has a sense of humour afterall!
