The. Best. Gig. Ever. Well, in my limited experience anyway. Here's five good reasons why:

1) We didn't know we were going till the day before, so it was an unexpected treat.

2) The venue is a beautiful old theatre holding c.1000 people. That's cool, man.

3) The crowd were up for it. They were all big fans.

4) Even though it was a warm up gig the band didn't hit a wrong note (although Rog forgot the odd lyric or two).

5) I thought I knew none of their stuff. It turns out that I do. I knew lots of stuff by The Who (and even more now).

Let's be honest, any show that starts of with Who Are You, Can't Explain and Substitute can't be bad.

And finally, there is Pete Townsend.

Everytime I see him play I find myself spellbound, enthralled by his passion, energy and the fact that he simple plays the guitar physically harder than anyone else I've ever seen. Technically he may not be pretty, but boy is he heavy!

This is also the last gig I can remember where the band were so loud I couldn't hear properly for days afterwards. Temporary deafness my friends is what rock and roll is about.
