"Whose chopper is this?
It's Zed's.

Who's Zed?
Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead."

Quentin Tarrantino has a lot to answer for.

First there's Grindhouse. (Quentin, you're a very talented man, so what on Earth possessed you?) But above all, there's his musical sensibilities.

"Bring out the Gimp."

Now I don't mind his movies, Reservoir Dogs was ok - if rather bloody and an unsettling view, Pulp Fiction I loved by the time I finally got round to watching it all the way through (on the third time of asking,) I liked the pace of Jackie Brown and Kill Bill was suitably comic book and entertaining, but without a doubt the best thing about a Tarrantino film isn't the pop culture dialogue, but the music.

"Oh, I'm sorry, did I break your concentration?"

Let's face it, the music in a Tarrantino film is cool. Really cool. Period.

"That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten."

Tarrantino sountracks have introduced me to a whole load of artists that I probably wouldn't have found otherwise, and they also mean that I now find it impossible to listen to certain genres - and artists - without thinking that I'm Michael Madsen, Robert Forster or other player in a Tarantino movie.

"Have you ever given a foot massage?"

This is especially true whenever I'm in the States, driving along (cruise control baby!) in my hire car - listening to motown and soul only radio stations - and thinking that I. Am. The. Man.

"All right, everybody be cool, this is a robbery!
Any of you fucking pricks move, and I'll execute every motherfucking last one of ya!"

So thanks Quentin for getting my mojo working and for introducing me to music that makes me feel like one Sexy MF whenever I'm listening to it.

"You see that, young lady? Respect. Respect for one's elders gives character.
I have character.
Just because you are a character doesn't mean that you have character."
