Pull Another One

LOCATION: Rocking Around the Christmas Tree , London

YEAR: 2007

TAGS: Stuffing, Jokes, Christmas, Xmas

PUBLISHED: March 20, 2008

What's the best thing about Christmas?

The presents? The turkey? Eating too much? Family arguments or a chance to watch The Sound of Music for the eleventh year in succession?

No, it's jokes. Or more specifically Christmas Cracker jokes.

I love 'em, and I can't get enough of 'em either. I gather it's a perculiarly British thing - you pull a cracker and out of it comes a paper hat, a crap plastic toy and an even crapper joke. In fact, the crapper the better. Here's my Top Ten:

1: Why did the archaeologist go bankrupt?
Because his career was in ruins.

2: Which cheese never tells the truth?
Lychees.

3: Did you hear about the man who drowned in his bowl of muesli?
He was dragged down by a strong currant.

4:Who beats his chest and swings from Christmas cake to Christmas cake?
Tarzipan!

5: What do snowmen eat for breakfast?
Snowflakes!

6: What's a sheep's favourite Christmas carol?
We wish ewe a merry christmas.

7: Who's working at MI5 on Christmas Day?
Mince spies!

8: Which bird always succeeds?
A budgie with no teeth.

9: How do you make an apple puff?
Chase it round the garden a few times.

10: Where did Sir Lancelot study?
Knight school.
