Duran Duran took their name after a character in the campy sci-fi sexy Jane Fonda movie Barbarella(the group later had a single called Electric Barbarella).
The movie itself(I saw it once) was pretty much out there. It also was really, really bad. Of course, the Duran Duran videos had also been pretty wild and out there(Wild Boys, for instance
have the guys running around on an island with painted beautiful women roaring like trapped animals in cages!). In the case of The Reflex, this video and song go hand in hand with
weirdness. The song, though has always been my very favorite of theirs. It tells the story of The Reflex.

Watching Over Lucky Clover
Now Isn't That Bizarre?

Bizarre it was, but who could resist seeing the coolest British guys in the world at the time perform their hit song and then have a giant TV screen pour water over
everyone and the band themselves? That was in the video and I never have forgotten it. It is something I think maybe has even influenced commemercials and videos of today.

I remember my friend across the street and I would listen to the album and try to remember the words and sing it. Sometimes we got the lyrics wrong, but we tried. The band is currently
on tour and while sometimes the group has had setbacks(such as an older Simon LeBon forgetting the words to certain songs, or a guitar player or two walking off the stage),
I hope they keep it together to finish the tour and maybe, just maybe, finish on the tour top and let me remember them as the great band I once idolized as a kid.
