Sweet Dreams is a catchy song I have always liked by the Eurythmics. It had a cool video with Annie Lennox in a bright red crew cut, a suit and
possibly black gloves on. She waltzed around the se, spinning a globet while her compadre, Dave Stewart just looked cool and played the guitar
a lot. He didn't sing either, which I found odd.Her beautiful, soulful voice was actually all of the voices used for the song, which harmonized
gorgeously together with every track and verse. Her thin body and pale skin made her look more mannish to me, which was okay those days in
light of the whole boy-girl rock and roll thing going from David Bowie to Twisted Sister and Boy George and the guys from Poison and so on.

The "Sweet Dreams" video was a constant for Friday Night Videos in 1983. It was something I watched religiously
on NBC, Fridays at 11:30 at night. My first exposure to many groups of the 1980's was through this show. Every week it was hosted by some
rock and roller, whether it be Paul McCartney or Julian Lennon or Sting or David Lee Roth or even a whole group like The Thompson Twins, it was something I
remember fondly from my childhood and was way more popular for me than MTV, since we didn't have cable. The look of the show was always slick, and the
artists who appeared on the show made sure the audience felt like watching more. For me, as a young impressionable kid and then growing up watching
music videos gave me the same sort of rush that a teenager has now going on MySpace or Facebook or whatever else is out there.

For Friday night Videos, it seemed to cater toward the teen set. As we all know, teenagers live through a very confusing time
and to be able to have artists identify with their listeners while displaying such
ambiguity in their looks made it easier for teens to accept themselves as who they were. The music spoke for itself while the
looks of the artists came to be second best. This made the Eurythmics something special for listeners, that it didn't matter what you looked like, it was inside that counts.
The Eurythmics still have a solid fan base and no matter how different Annie Lennox or Dave Stewart look with each video,
they still shared their hearts and souls for all to enjoy.
