I have never looked at Kim Basinger in the same way again. To me, she'll always be "Garth's Crush," from Mike Myers' Wayne's World. And could there be any other song which fits her so well but "Foxy Lady" by Jimi Hendrix? She later had been in many other wonderful movies such as The Door in the Floor(based on a spellbinding book by John Irving), LA Confidential(she played Lana Turner), and more. She will always be a picture of beauty in my book.

This song was one I really tried to play back in 1992 on my little black, Gremlin electric guitar, coming out more faux-Hendrix-like with every missed chord. But I don't think Jimi would have minded. My JB Player 10 watt amp surely had a workout. It would be the utmost compliment to play this song to any girl who walked through the door at my house, whether she was a friend of my sister's or otherwise.

And the movie, Wayne's World, itself, had introduced new younger fans to the music of Aerosmith, Queen, Alice Cooper and of course, Jimi Hendrix. With Kim Basinger playing the femme fatale who stole Garth's heart with a simple piece of red licorice, it made me melt.

This memory of Foxy Lady is more of a teaser for listening to the music of Jimi Hendrix as a whole. All of Hendrix's work could be deconstructed and analized, but what would be the fun in that when I truly remember Foxy Lady being one of the most rocking songs attributed to the beauty of women, which is how Jimi truly may have felt.
