Dido Does it For MeLOCATION: Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek, Door County, WIYEAR: 1999TAGS: friends, relationshipsPUBLISHED: February 1, 2008I had mentioned that Coldplay became a part of my own personal music favorites while on a camping trip to Peninsula State Park. At the same time, same trip, my friend’s wife had brought her new CD along to play while we would sit around in our rapidly failing screen tent(hint: It didn’t last and was chucked on our last day) playing cards and chess and talking about relationships, getting older and breasts(yes, she had her own two cents to chip in about the B-words) .
Her new CD was Dido’s debut album “No Angel.” Like “Yellow” playing over and over, “Thank You” was Dido’s song that we had to play over and over. Her lovely voice and the backbeats thumping behind it were hypnotic and addictive. Hearing “Thank You” made all of the tensions go away with my friend and his wife and myself. It made me “Thank” that I didn’t let a few idiosyncracies that bled out from time to time ruin our friendship. Needless to say, I had Dido on my MUST PURCHASE list from then on.
