The Memory Never FadesLOCATION: Denny's restaurant , Augusta, GAYEAR: 2006TAGS: Friends, love, hero, Rise AgainstPUBLISHED: February 7, 2008Everyone meets people in their lives that stand out. One may know this person years, or merely a few moments in time. These are the people you can never forget, no matter how hard you try. One night after working an eight hour shift at a semi-casual restaurant, my friends and I decided to head to Dennys for a bite to eat. Somewhere in between getting our sweet teas (so sweet you can only find them in the South) and our heavenly Oreo shake desserts, we met a few other people our age sitting around acting a bit on the crazy side. One person in particular, Kat, stood out among the rest. After some rather stimulating, probably improper, conversations, we all exchanged numbers to keep in touch. The only ones who did keep in touch however, were Kat and I. Within our time together, we saw many more trips to Dennys. She was a special girl who had the morals of a saint, without the condescending tone. Many people know the feeling when you just fall in love with someone, without even realizing youre doing it. Guilty as charged. In my eyes she became the most beautiful thing I had ever come across. In a sense, she was my guardian angel. We stayed around each other for the better part of a year, before she was forced to move 800 miles away. I made one trip up north to visit, which proved enough for me. During the duration of the 24 hour drive there and back, I heard The Good Left Undone at least 8 times, and every time I heard an angel referenced, Kat was brought back to my mind. I never returned, because it turns out that when an angel is involved, every time you say goodbye is just as hard as the first.
