The Llamas Are Where?

It took me and my friend hours to return from St. Louis.  We finally got home, and of course my friend just had it in him that he had to get some beer in his system, as if he needed it at that point.  Nonetheless, he got a twelve pack and we sat in my car in the front yard listening to music.  We had given up on my radio working at this point and just each shared a headphone of my MP3 player. 

The first few hours of the trip, when we thought we were going to California, we listened to California quite a few times, mostly because I liked it.  Of course the song got old on the way back, but sitting there in the car watching him get more and more inebriated, I decided to listen to it again.  This is more or less why the song sticks out in my memory, because I’ll play a song to death. 

The best part of the night came on account of my friend however.  I was just sitting there listening to the MP3 player when he asks what time it is.  So I, being the handy friend that I am, look right down at the clock that is obviously on the dashboard.  I guess he needed my help because I could still see straight.  I told him “11:15”.  My friend hears me, or so I thought, looks at me with all dead seriousness and says “The llamas are leaving California?”  So of course I just look at him, to which he says “Dude, you better be right about this one”, as if I was wrong the last time I informed him of the llamas’ intentions to leave California.  He of course remembered none of this, but that was never any reason for me to let him forget it.
