Home Away From HomeLOCATION: My aunt's apartment , Augusta, GAYEAR: 2000TAGS: Matchbox Twenty, Fun, Mad Season, Fight ClubPUBLISHED: February 27, 2008Im not sure if everyone gets a small taste of freedom years before theyre actually free from the confines and rules of their parents, but I did. My Aunt Lisa, who wasnt the most responsible adult in the world, got an apartment that wasnt in the best area of our city. Nothing bad really happened there, but nothing good did either. I remember being able to do anything that I wanted to at the age of 16. I didnt get into any trouble, but the taste of freedom was fun. I could sit around and do nothing all day long, and so could my brother and friends. One night I remember in particular that sums up the crazy stuff that happened occurred about midyear. My brother and his friends had just finished watching Fight Club and decided they wanted to do the same thing. So about five of them proceeded to go to the back yard area and beat the living daylights out of each other with the whole neighborhood watching. No one got hurt, but they werent looking too pretty afterwards. One song that my aunt listened to every time it came on was Bent by Matchbox Twenty. She listened to it so much that it is the only song that stuck in my head from my time at her apartment. Looking back, it was an appropriate song, coming from the CD Mad Season. A mad season basically sums up my time there.
