Wake Me Up When Another Album This Good Comes Out

The entire album is amazing.  I remember when it came out, and I hear all these complaints about how Green Day has sold out.  They have conformed.  They have turned pop.

Exactly the opposite.  If you listen to the words of every song and get it-then you realize that it is completely opposite of what so many have said.  The rock/punk opera is intellectual, genious, creative and important.  Not only does it kick ass, but it has meaning which is rare this day in age for mainstream music.

I didn't apprecitate how important that album was, until I was driving my 14 year old sister home from the mall one day, rockin out to it and she started asking me some questions about what he was talking about.  I explained to her about the war, about the world that we were living in today and about what the songs were trying to say.  After that she started listening and started paying attention more to what really was going on in our country.

We don't live in a world with Bob Dylans and John Lennons playing on the radio anymore.  But, we do have some artists out there still trying to use there voice to get kids involved and get them interested and I think that is so important.  Green Day is one of these artists and this album did more for our youth then I believe it got credit for.  Kudos.

ColleenMaloney said: Exactly! Everybody gets so mad because they play on the radio...then they suck... well at least they are using their fame to try and do something. Thats what happens when your good- they give you airplay... (3/11/2008)
