My friend Rachel and I were huge Jewel fans.  So we were extremely excited when we got frontrow, center stage tickets to her acoustical show at the Turning Stone Casino.  It was to be held in there showroom which only holds about 700 people.  So our seats were amazing.  Our table was dead-set in the center of the stage and our table was pushed up right to it.

There was an opening act that had won some contest her label was having.  His name was Jason Mraz and he had won the position to open for her whole tour.  Rachel and I sat there arms resting on the stage...chins resting on our arms... and we were very impressed.  The kid was real good.  "He's awesome."  I whisphered to Rachel.  "Yah, he is." She responded.  The more and more he played the more he got into it.  Here we were, two feet away from this kid singing his heart out and enjoying every minuite of it, knowing that we still had Jewel coming out, we were having the time of our lives.  Then, he began to sing "The Remedy."  Then it began raining.

Something was sprinkling on us.  We began looking around and then realized what it was.  He was spitting on us!  In shock, we began giggling.  We were looking down, trying not to be noticed but we couldn't stop laughing.  It was funny.  It was also really gross.  The more and more he got into it, the more diction he used, the more he belted out those rhymes...the more spit droplets flew our way.

In the end, it didn't matter.  The show was...spitacular.   We had no idea that we would ever see the kid again, and then 3 monthes later his video was on MTV.  He was awesome, and I'm really glad he made it and I would highly recommend seeing him live.  I would highly recommend seeing him live.  I would also highly recommend bringing an umbrella.
