Its TrueLOCATION: Turning Stone Casino , VeronaYEAR: 2005TAGS: Voice, True, Amazing, Powerhouse, ArethaPUBLISHED: March 10, 2008When I worked as a cocktail waitress at the Turning Stone Casino, I was sometimes asked to go in and work the showroom where the concerts were being held. No one ever wanted to do it because you mad less money in there. When Aretha Franklin was coming, I begged to go in. Growing up, obsessed with music, Aretha Franklin was always a legend. However, I always had doubt that she was as good as they said. I knew she was good, but I just didn't see such a big deal. I had always been told what power she had and control, but I couldn't tell the difference between her and Mariah, or Whitney or any of the big powerhouses on the radio or T.V. So I wanted to see it for myself. And did I ever. It is true. This lady, stood up there on that stage... and freakin OWNED it. I mean it. She sang "Natural Woman" and she stood about 5 feet away from that microphone during the bridge and the room shook. Literally. Shook. The power that came out of that woman's I have never, ever, seen anything like it before in my life. She was bigger then the room could handle.  I was blown away, and I think that my hair and makeup went with it. I went to the bathroom shortly after, and now not only did I feel like a natural woman, I looked like one too. Aretha rocks.
