He Let Me Down...Then Picked Me Up

I had always loved the song, "Don't Let Me Down."  Growing up a huge Beatles fan, I loved all their stuff, but "Don't Let Me Down" was one of those rare gems that a lot of people didn't know.  My cousin kept telling me that he knew my "soulmate" and that I just had to meet his friend, Derrick.  We were supposed to be "so much a like". 

So, one day we went to watch Derrick's band play.  He, like myself, was a musician and played various gigs around the area.  I thought he was beautiful, and liked him right away.  Then their show began and about an hour into it he sang "Don't Let Me Down".  I had never heard anyone cover that song, and could not believe it.  Not to mention that he sounded dead on like Paul.  That was all that I needed and I just knew I was going to be with this guy. 

We started dating and he was the sweetest guy in the world.  Wrong.  He...was a great actor.  He got so caught up in his big "rock and roll" image that he began playing me like a fool.  I was his girl when I was around, but apparently everyones elses when I wasn't.  That is...until I found out and was truely heartbroken.  I had never had anyone do that to me before.  So I stayed away. 

I listened to that song over and over.  I had really grown to care about him... maybe even love him...the fake him anyways.  That song now, made me so sad.  In the time that we had been dating he played it special for me everytime I was at his shows.  Now, he had ruined it for me.

But, because I am a keeper... and anyone with any kind of sence would know that...eventually he realized what he had and what he had done.  And yes... I put him through a hell of a punishment with my bitching for a few months... but eventually forgave him.

Now, we have been together for 3 years.  In September I will marry that crazy Gemini, and we will dance our first dance to our favorite song..."Don't Let Me Down", which by the way, he never did again.
