First Time I Ever Got Pulled Over!

This memory was not a good one at all. It starts back in the late summer of 1991 I think. Summer was drawing to a close and we were all trying to enjoy each and every day before school started again. There were lots of late nights out and about, cruising around with friends and trying to stay out of trouble. Although it can be hard to stay out of trouble when you have like 5 kids , teens, cruising around together. On a little side note, I remember hearing stories from other kids from school that, “They were just out driving around and they got pulled over by the cops for nothing!” That used to piss us kids off back then. You know, the cops suck, blah blah blah. Now that I’m older it’s no wonder these kids get pulled over all the time. We were all young once, including the cops, so we know what’s going on. When you have five kids crammed in one car, cruising around at midnight it’s trouble waiting to happen!

I was thankful that I was never pulled over. The last thing I wanted was for the Cops to haul me to the station and call my folks! No way! Hmm, I’m talking an awful lot about cops and getting pulled over…

So guess what happened? Well, we were all driving along, jamming to the tunes and just having a ball egging cars and houses. That night, as I cruised with my buds, was the first time I had ever listened to Nirvana.  We had that one cd in the car and it kept playing over and over and to tell you the truth, I didn’t like it that much.

Next thing you know the blue lights were flashing behind us! We got pulled over. Now what? I’m going to be DEAD when my folks hear about this. Long story short, we all got in trouble and of course as soon as I hear the opening chords to “Smells Like Teen Spirit” I vividly recall those flashing blue lights.
