"Wild and Sexy" in ScotlandLOCATION: Bus , ScotlandYEAR: 2005TAGS: Scotland, tour, bus, HighlandsPUBLISHED: February 15, 2008While I was studying abroad in Oxford, England, I took a weekend and went up to Scotland to visit a friend, who was going to school at St. Andrews. I've rarely been that far north, and the whole experience gave me a bit of vertigo (I know, it's all in my head). She was really busy with her rugby team, so I spontaneously signed up for a two day, one night bus tour of the Highlands. First off, the bus was bright yellow, full of college students. On one side it said "Gorgeous..." and on the other, "Wild and Sexy." Sexiest bus I've ever been on, that's for sure. That pretty much set the tone for the entire trip. I saw some of the most gorgeous scenery I've ever gotten a chance to see, and some major historical sites and battlefields. Some of these places, like the valley of Glencoe and Loch Ness, left an indelible impression upon me, and I remember them as clearly as if I was just there yesterday. I met a lot of fun people, and got to see a part of the country I might never have gotten the chance to see otherwise. Our tour guide had an endless supply of energy, and he played Scottish songs for us at top volume, while keeping up a steady stream of trivia. One of those songs, naturally, was this one. Now, whenever I hear it, I remember what was two of the most jam-packed days of my life, and it reminds me how awesome being spontaneous can be. :)
