A Small Obsess-shonLOCATION: The Fillmore , San FranciscoYEAR: 2007TAGS: MikaPUBLISHED: February 19, 2008The thing about Mika's music, it seems, is that people either love it or they hate it (or they've never heard it). But I don't think anyone could claim he doesn't put on a great show. My roommate and I "discovered" him--and this song, Grace Kelly--while watching music videos one day. "Huh," we said. "That's kind of catchy." When we tried to spread the Mika love, we met with quite a bit of resistance. uh oh, the private dance parties we held... yeah, my roommate and I could be kind of ridiculous. That's why we're friends, I guess. Now this song will always remind me of the great time I had that year of school, living in that dorm/house with forty other people, most of them fun and cool. When Mika came to the Fillmore in SF, we were all over that. Seriously, I am not usually the type to go all fangirly over any kind of performer, but.... haha. It can be kind of fun to jump up and squeal and generally act like someone a decade younger than I really am. I don't think I've ever been at a concert with as much good energy before... and it stuck with me. That whole night my friend and I raved about what a great concert it was, the free posters we got, how amusingly eclectic the crowd was (lots of gay men and young girls). There aren't many songs that evoke such a giddy, happy feeling in me... this is one of them. Talk about being high on life. ;P Â
