Sleeping MemoriesLOCATION: my home , Corsicana, TXYEAR: 1972TAGS: led zeppelin, sleep, LPPUBLISHED: April 27, 2008When I was in the 6th grade, my parents had a party, inviting family and coworkers. Mind you my parents were country music all the way,,,,Hank Williams the senior, Loretta Lynn etc etc. Some of their frinends had brought along LPs to add to the music for the night. The next day I found a copy of Led Zeppelin 4 in the livingroom. I'm assuming it got brought along accidentally, was set aside and then forgotten when the party broke up. So I claimed it. Aside from one or two singles I had, this was my first taste of REAL rock and roll. The stereo I had at the time had a turntable which would hold several LPs at once and play one after another. I always liked to put a few on to sleep to at night and I'd put this one on last so it would play over and over all night. I don't know how many nights I listened to this LP in my sleep, but there was a skip at one point during "The Battle of Evermore", and to this day whenever I hear the song on the radio, I "hear" the skip in that one spot. I guess that's why they say learning is accomplished best in your sleep and why so many language tutor programs are made to be listened to as you sleep. I can vouch that it really sticks with you.
