The lyrics are simple and poetic and it just makes sense if you are in love. My ex was into soul music too so at least we had that in common! I just remember sitting in his room and listening to Curtis Mayfield. It was so calming. That was the one part of the day when we weren't worried about anything and no one was nagging us. It was just me and him and that's it. I always thought this song described both of us, I know that sounds corny but that was how I felt back then. Now I just think it's a great song.
