I was scanning through the JamsBio music when I ran across this song.  It instantly took me back to a sunny, spring day when I was fifteen.
My brother-in-law like so many family farmers back then worked with his neighbors to get their jobs done.  Whether it was planting or harvesting they would go from farm to farm with all their equipment to do what needed to be done.
On this particular day there was only two guys spreading lime on the fields in preparation for planting.  One was my brother-in-law and the other was this gorgeous hunk of teenage manhood named—yup, you guessed it—Norman.  Since I spent more time outdoors than in whenever possible I was out there with them.
Certain that given time and opportunity I could snag Norman for me—ah, the confidence of youth—I opted to ride the tractor with him for the day.  What a fiasco!  It was dirty, smelly, and when the wind caught the lime it was like being in a blizzard.  All that would have been worth it if I’d snagged the prize.  I didn’t.  Oh, we had fun along with the work.  We talked and laughed a lot, but at the end of the day he rushed home to get ready for his date with his girlfriend of three years.  Everyone, including Norman, failed to mention her until then.
Even though I was crushed at the time, I look back now and laugh at my naivety.
