On the visit from this memory my cousin and I had gone shopping for her boyfriend’s birthday gift. After much looking around she decided on a Duane Eddy album. I wasn’t much help since I had yet meet the new guy in her life, but I figured one could hardly go wrong with music. Back at the apartment we grabbed some lunch. Then my cousin decided that before wrapping the album we should play it to be sure it was good. I wasn’t sure that was proper, but she assured me it was done all the time. Her logical argument that she wouldn’t want to give him a defective gift seemed credible so we opened it. From the first strains of Rebel Rouser we were totally mesmerized by Duane’s music. By the time my aunt came home from work that evening we had played the album numerous times. Somewhere along the way my cousin decided there was no way she was giving this album away. I don’t remember what she actually gave her boyfriend instead, but it doesn’t really matter because we had Duane Eddy. She even let me take it home with me and I returned it well played to her on my next visit.
