Star Gazer

.  To be totally honest I’m not sure what year I first saw Pinnocchio and heard the song When You Wish Upon a Star.  It had to be when I was very young because I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t a Star Gazer and a Star Wisher.
 As a child I half expected the fairy to appear and assure me that my wish would be granted.  She never did, but there are times when the star I wish on seems to twinkle more brightly when I finish my wish and I chose to believe that she is nodding her head in agreement and saying “yes, that can happen.”
 The promise that “it makes no difference who you are” has sustained me just as God’s promises have through the darkest of nights.  It may sound corny, but for me there is magic in this song even in broad daylight.  Humming it softly to myself lifts my spirits and reminds me that if you believe all things are possible.  Of course, if you are a big Disney fan like me you will hear this song playing as Tinkerbell spreads her pixie dust over the castle at the beginning of every movie reminding us that wishes and dreams really can come true with just a little magic of believing.
 I’ll meet you outside at dusk and we can wish on a star together.
