Should I Tell Her

My sister, Claudia, was married with children when I was very young.  As I aged it became more and more apparent to me that all was not well between my sister and my brother-in-law.  Though only in her early thirties she dressed and acted like an woman three times that old, while he seemed as full of life and vigor as ever.
Time passed, I married and divorced.  When circumstances put me in a bind I moved in with my sister and her family.  It was great spending time with my sister and nieces when I wasn’t working, but it was obvious my brother-in-law and I saw eye to eye on very little.
I moved out when our differences caused friction between my sister and him.  What surprised me was my brother-in-law’s suggestion that my new roommate and I come by to watch him bowl some evening.  A month later, on a whim, we did.  That’s when he suggested him and I “get together.”  I quickly declined—appalled that he would even suggest such a thing.  For months afterward my mind waged the battle of whether or not to tell my sister.  I didn’t.  It was this song that played in my mind and on my stereo.
She divorced him a few years later for many reasons, not the least of which was finding out that he was cheating on her with his cousin’s wife.  When I heard about the divorce I cheered and breathed a sigh of relief that I hadn’t had to share what I knew with my sister which would have caused her more pain.
