My sister, Mary, (I have four) was getting married.  Planning and preparations had been going on for months.  I had two other married sisters, but theirs had been private weddings at the minister's home so all this was new and exciting to me.  Our home was overflowing with out-of-town relatives too, which lent a real party atmosphere to the whole thing.  My younger cousins and I were doing our best just to stay out of the way of the grown-ups.

The day of the wedding came and we were all in church.  I actually remember very little about the ceremony or the reception afterwards.  Like most kids I'm sure I was just getting anxious for all to be over with.  However, I will never forget the sheer heavenly sound of my aunt and uncle's voices as they sang The Lord's Prayer.  I was mesmerized by the beauty of their voices in perfect harmony as they raised them in praise and prayer.  Never before had I felt the presence of God so vividly as I did in that brief span.  It was truly a prayer of adoration.

I have heard it recited many times since and I have said it silently and aloud numerous times.  Each time I can still hear their voices as they were that day and I feel blessed anew.  My uncle sings in heaven's choir now and I know he awaits the day my aunt will join him there.

To the best of my recollection I had never heard anyone else sing the prayer until I listened to the sound bite for this memory.  It's never been necessary for those heavenly sounds I heard that day live forever in my memory to remind me that we should all lift our voices in praise every day as thanksgiving for our many blessings.
