When they announced in January that Tommy Cash was coming to the R.V. Park where my mother-in-law lives, I immediately told her I wanted to be there.  Though never as famous as his older brother, Johnny, I had heard and seen Tommy in the 70’s and was impressed.
Back then his hit song was Six White Horses, a tribute to the untimely deaths of John and Bobby Kennedy as well as Dr. King.  Many people thought Johnny recorded it, because they sound quite similar though not exactly the same.  Tommy never had the gravel in his voice that Johnny did.
February 15th Tommy Cash and his band, The Cash Crew, took the stage.  From the moment he began to sing I was truly glad I’d come.  He sang his songs, Johnny’s songs, and more.  Along with the great music he gave us a lot of information about himself and Johnny from the early days.  It was a wonderful trip down memory lane.  Unlike many high priced concerts there was a short intermission with Tommy and his band mingling with the audience to chat and sign autographs, reminding us in a positive way that performers are real people too.  At the end of his show he received a standing ovation and favored us with a rollicking encore.  It was very close to two full hours of music that entertained all whom came for only $7.00, and would have been worth it at twice the price.  Oh yes, I was impressed with Tommy Cash all over again
